Obituary:

Mr. Willie Charles Kinney, age 80, of Vanceburg, Kentucky, passed away Friday evening, December 28, 2012, at his residence.

He was born April 27, 1932, in Lewis County, Kentucky, a son of the late William and Katie Mae Applegate Kinney.

Willie was of the Baptist faith and was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed hunting, buying ginseng, and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Willie Charles Kinney Jr.; five brothers, Leroy Kinney, Boyd Kinney, James Kinney, Angress Kinney, and Arthur Kinney; and one sister, Christine Poetker.

Willie is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jeretha Ginn Kinney; three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Brenda Kinney, Ronnie and Carmon Kinney, and Mark Kinney, all of Vanceburg, Kentucky; one daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Gordon Gilliam of Vanceburg, Kentucky; two grandchildren, Amanda Gilliam and Dylan Kennedy; and one great grandchild, Chloe Kennedy.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at Dickerson Funeral Home in Vanceburg, Kentucky, with Brother Arthur Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas-Kinney Cemetery in Vanceburg, Kentucky.

Friends may visit from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, December 31, 2012, and until the service hour on Tuesday at Dickerson Funeral Home, 110 West Second Street, Vanceburg, Kentucky 41179.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
